Credit unions have historically occupied a great niche among the depository institutions; these unions, are non – profit institutions, member owned cooperatives exempt from paying federal income taxes on their earnings. Opposite from banks, the unions are subject to membership limits because the main idea is that the members should actually have some kind of bond, a common bond, such as working for the same employer, or living in the same area and community.

Over the years though, the requirements and specifications of the memberships have loosened, especially since some of these unions have received some serious and expanded power. Even though questions were raised, on whether these institutions are really different than banks nowadays, given their strength and expansion, we can definitely say that even the biggest credit unions do remain unique and feature much more beneficial terms and products than the regular banks.

Since the 90s the union industry has experienced some serious growth and a great expansion of activities. Moreover, recent changes in legislation and regulation have limited the differences between lending and financing institutions and the biggest credit unions. For instance the C. Union Membership Access Act expanded the definition of common bond, providing for reform intended to strengthen the safety and soundness of the unions, including instituting procedures for prompt corrective actions when the capital levels of the biggest unions fall below some certain threshold.

At the beginning of the 2000s there were approximately 10,000 unions with more than 80 million members. These unions are chartered and monitored both by the federal and state government, a fact known mostly as dual chartering system. These institutions receive some deposits for the members from the National Credit Union Share Insurance Fund, which is administered by NCUA and provides share insurance to most of the state chartered credit unions. Some of the states allow their unions to purchase private insurance as an alternative to federal insurance. The overall financial condition of the biggest union is measured by capital ratio, asset growth and regulatory ratings has significantly improved since the 90s, and their profitability is stable even in harder economical conditions.

I’d like to share cool website with more information on topics like biggest credit unions and federal credit unions. Visit for more details.

Hollywood and the financial environment of independent cinema is changing because there are many new technologies that have altered the film making process. It used to be private placement memorandums, and 900+ film financing distribution and production partners investing in Indie Films. Today it could be any willing investor.

Several areas have been influenced: 1) Filmmakers now have online schools where they can get training, learn about film making, and locate a mentor in the industry to work with. 2) Many of the traditional fundraising methods to secure film distribution are becoming outdated, while new funding opportunities for independent filmmakers are emerging.

Financers favor big productions internationally. In the past, many of the large studios have used German tax shelters, New Zealand subsidies, and pre-sales to fund big blockbuster film projects. But what about the small independent filmmaker? Are you wondering where funding comes from for these projects?

Right now, the digital revolution is not only changing the way films are made, but how films are distributed. Faster broadband allows people to watch movies from their computer screens, so independent filmmakers don’t need a large distributor. Some films are simply available for anyone to purchase from the film’s website online. One recent example is a film called “The Fall of America and the Western World.”

In the future these changes will expand all of the opportunities for independent filmmakers who are hoping to receive funds for their film projects.

Trends indicate that companies online are helping filmmakers finance their films by matching them with investors and/or distributors. These kinds of services could help small town filmmakers.

It also helps when an independent filmmaker has good movie reviews from film critics for past film projects. These reviews lend credibility to filmmakers when they are seeking investors.

When it comes to online websites for filmmakers and investors, the way it typically works is that the filmmaker submits a description of their project or film for consideration. There are many investors registered on the website who can then access the list of projects at their own pace, and review those projects that are in need of funding. They in turn can directly contact the filmmakers, which cuts out any middlemen as was popular for film financing in the past.

There are also non-profit organizations that focuses on helping independent filmmakers locate funds to finance and distribute their films. Although they offer fiscal sponsorship to filmmakers, they will not fund them. Sponsorship allows filmmakers to receive funding from sources that limit their funding to nonprofits.

Many websites link independent producers with investors, which encourages fundraising by allowing producers to post information and or ads about Indie film projects for investors.

Movie Review Intelligence, Inc. is the new industry standard for measuring and understanding movie reviews, giving moviegoers and critics, filmmakers, marketers, distributors, exhibitors, and publishing editors, the most accurate, picture of movie reviews possible. The company collects reviews from more than 65 U.S. and Toronto newspapers, magazines, alternative weeklies, NPR and ‘At the Movies.’

Money transfer is one of the safest ways of sending money from one account to another with just the use of a credit or ATM card. This term generally describes the activity where cash is not used as a mode of payment for purchasing something or for debt payment.

Different Types of Money Transfer:

1. Wire Transfer – this mode of transferring funds is an international bank-to-bank fund transfer in where a bank sends money to a recognized bank in another country.

2. Electronic Funds Transfer – this term is used for cashless based payments such as the use of cards upon purchase of products from a grocery store. This is very common in major credit card bank companies.

3. Email Money Transfer – this is very common in Canadian banks in which email is used for transferring accounts to another. One good example of this is the online and mobile banking in which is very convenient for majority bankers in the United States.

4. Giro – this kind of money transfer is done through online cash direct deposit. This method is also known as credit transfer.

How does online money transfer work?

Online money transfer is one of the trendiest and fastest ways of sending money to different places all over the world. A depositor wouldn’t have to spend a lot of time and effort traveling to a bank just to withdraw money for shopping when they can just pay without using actual money through the use of their card. Sending money to relatives in other countries will be hassle free with the use of online cash remittance in which money can be sent to other countries in a flash. Online money transfer is an innovation to the postal money transfer in which is very risky and takes a long time to send and receive money.

Online Money Transfer with the use of the Internet.

The Internet indeed is one of the fastest ways to communicate with different people all around the world. The Internet is also an inexpensive way at the same time safest way to transfer money or to conduct bank-to-bank transfers all across the world. Sending money from the United States to Europe can be done in a minute with just few clicks in the computer. Online money transfer on the other hand can be used to send money to places that have very few banks as long as there are remittance centers in the area.

Many international cash transfer remittance centers have numerous branches across the world. This on the other hand is one fast way to send money to relatives across different countries. Most people in the United States are using the online bank transfer wherein they can log on to a bank’s website to be able to transfer the funds to other accounts. Some people still conduct the traditional way of making cash transfers since they fear that online cash transfer is not safe due to the large presence of online hackers.

You hear the finance gurus on television often refer to the GDP as an indicator of how the economy is doing. It is a number used by investors. It refers to the “Gross Domestic Product”. Economists are talking about any recovery of the economy in terms of jobs, consumer spending, and our exports. All this time it is how and where we are spending money. The real indication of how the economy is doing is in what we produce that we can export, how much we spend and invest, and what we sell as opposed to what we buy. This is what is what makes up the gross domestic product.

The problem is that the way the GDP number is calculated is deceiving. The GDP = Consumption + Business investment + Government spending + Exports – Imports. You may hear economists on TV say that the GDP has grown lately, and that is a good sign that the economy is recovering. Next time you hear that you need to pause and think about how the GDP is calculated and what this means when we use it as an indicator of economic growth. Look at what is really happening in the economy and compare it to the growth in this number. It might explain a lot about why the current administration in Washington is convinced that government spending is the solution, and why it is deceiving everyone into believing them.

If you recognize that any component of the GDP that grows significantly, and drives the growth of that number, is simply another “bubble” you will see the growth is fake. There is no momentum in the growth and the aberration will eventually correct itself. You can also see that when the government encourages one of the components of this calculation, they are trying to manipulate an indicator. That is why they encourage consumer spending, despite the growth in debt it creates. It is why they believe government spending will create growth. You would think they would encourage business investment, and to some extent they do, but when Americans are deep in debt, it is harder to get them to invest than it is to spend. As far as our exports are concerned, the continued decline of the value of the dollar due to both the government’s skyrocketing debt and consumer debt, that number will continue to be a drag on GDP. The government will continue to attempt to compensate by encouraging spending of all kinds to prop up a weak number. The only way to get these numbers growing legitimately, in a way that we can have confidence in it is to pay down our debts and start producing more products and services we can competitively export. These are two things we are having significant difficulty doing.

So how does this affect your wealth? In short, it steals it. You are told the economy is doing well because the GDP is improving, and it is used to justify more borrowing. Some advocate that the debt is okay as long as it is growing in proportion to the GDP. When the numbers are disproportionate and wildly out of balance the growth is due to a “bubble” that will soon burst. In the end, the value of the dollar is hurt and that means the dollars you have and that you earn each paycheck will buy less. This is a process that has been going on since 1913, when the Federal Reserve Act established the Federal Reserve. It was further facilitated in 1971 when Nixon took us off the gold standard and allowed the Federal Reserve and the Federal Government to print money without accountability. Now inflation is a hidden tax that is eating away at your wealth. It is a problem that is accelerating with the passage of time. The Federal debt in 2008 has begun to explode beyond our imaginations. This could be a precursor to failure of the dollar as a currency.

What can you do? You need to be aware of what is happening and making sure you spend less than you make and save as much as you can. Put your savings into some form of gold holdings until the crisis passes. Then your buying power for that money will be preserved and you’ll be able to trade it into the new currency later without losing the vast majority of it in the period of hyperinflation that will occur. Food will be expensive during that period, as will transportation and clothing. These basic needs must be planned for.

Starting a new business is very important because in the first place, it creates new job opportunities and brings new products to the market. However, most businesses hardly last long due to various challenges. To start with, there is a lot of competition out there with other similar and stabilized big companies. For example, you need to lower the price of your goods and services a little less than the normal price to attract more customers. This will therefore mean that, you will receive less revenue for several months.

To start a business needs large amount of money. In most cases, you will face difficulties applying a loan because most lenders will demand records with good tracking. Even if you qualify for home equity loan, you will be at a risk of losing both your home and the store if in any case it fizzles. You might also encounter problems with your employees because if there are no revenues, where will get the money to pay them?

Sometimes, you could encounter difficulties finding the right employees to perform various tasks. This will eventually lead to poor management. Again, you might find the right employees but fail to sustain them especially if they demand high salaries. Poor planning is another problem which can make a small business to close suddenly.

Due to luck of capital, you might not be in a position to pay for extra classes for those employees who could need more training in their job. Most store owners are not informed leading to poor management and accumulation of debts. There is no short cut for wealth and, you’ve got to really work hard in order to achieve your ambitions. Again, this is not going to be easy and, since you will encounter many challenges on the way.

We’ve all heard how difficult it is for single mothers to make ends meet. It’s true that in terms of financial ability, single mothers are usually on the lower end of the scale. It’s very rare to find moms who are raising families alone to be doing well financially. This is especially true for young single mothers.

Because single mothers are often in a position where they simply cannot get the help they need on their own, they have to look at getting some help from someone else.

There is help available, but you just have to look for it in the right places. I suggest you start your search using the search engines and look at what sort of single parent help websites you can find. These websites will often list some aid programs you can seek out. These are a good starting point to look for help.

You can also look at getting a government grant of some sort. Now there are many types of grants out there. Some of the more popular government assistance programs would include federal welfare and housing assistance programs. There are no real “single mom grant” programs out there that you can directly apply for, but if you look around, you can find some government programs that will offer you food stamps, assistance with rent, etc.

It’s a good idea to look at what sort of aid you can turn up offline. This means looking at what non profit organizations may be able to offer. There are charities, for example, that may help out single mothers. When you have some need, it’s best to look at every option out there. Look for some websites that offer you a list of private organizations that you can seek out help from – there are a few floating around on the web.

To learn how to get single mom help, consider looking online for sites that offer you free single mother grants advice — there are some legitimate sites out there that will give you good information for free.

The best online savings account is the account that gives you the highest return on your money, has excellent service, and is insured by the government. There are many online accounts, but only one can be the best. With the right terms and knowing what you need and want, you can find the best account for you.

The Best Online Savings Account Interest Rate

If you are looking for an online savings account that has the highest interest rate, you have to do some looking around. The honest truth is that the interest rates of the savings accounts are changing constantly. They go up in a good economy and down in a bad economy. Generally, you’re going to get close to the same interest rate for the top banks. If one is slightly better than the next, you can almost be sure that the other one will go up soon, too.

The Best Online Savings Account Service

Service is very important for any kind of bank or business. You want to make sure to get the best service from your service provider. Online banks are going to give you less service. They do not like it when you call them constantly and cause problems because you are costing them money. When you cost them money, the interest rate goes down. That is why you need to make sure the bank is excellent to begin with so that you do not have any problems.

Make Sure It Is Insured

It is very important that the account you choose is insured by the government. It should be FDIC insured. This means that if the bank you are with goes under, the government will give you your money. Make sure your money is safe and secure. When your money is safe, you can have better peace of mind that your cash is safe.

Do you want to know what the best online savings account is? You can find the best online savings account and sign up for free right away.

According to “Money on CNN Money.com” by Walter Updegrave “What you need to know about Social Security”, some interesting issues are addressed and some are more encouraging than the scuttlebutt we have been hearing from our uniformed highly opinionated sources.

Many of us worry about our 401ks and IRAs but what do you know about Social Security. It is the foundation for your retirement plans! In fact Social Security Money provides 50% of the income for more than half of retired couples and 20% for high income earners.

It is probably the only source of income that you will have able to offset inflation and be guaranteed to last the duration of your life.

(1) Can I count on Social Security to be there when I retire? According to “What You Need to Know about Social Security”, you can depend on it to be there for you! How many times have we heard that it will go broke before we are old enough to qualify for benefits?

Payments for all retirees will be covered by payroll taxes until 2016 even if no changes are made to the program. After that the Social Security Administration can cover full benefits until 2037 by cashing in Treasury Bonds from the SS Trust Fund. And when the bonds run out, the income from payroll taxes can pay for at least 75% of all retirees for decades!

The Obama Administration is looking for ways to provide longevity to the system. They have considered imposing Social Security payroll taxes on incomes over $200,000. Perhaps raising the retirement age, or increasing payroll taxes or diminishing benefits in some way.

According to Bruce Schobel, who worked on the commission headed by Alan Greenspan to fixed the system back then, anyone 55 or older is likely to see no change or a perhaps only minimal changes to the system. Even younger workers can be assured that large cuts are unlikely.

(2) How much will I get every month? The formula for Social Security can be complex, but your benefits are based on your average lifetime earnings-more specifically over the highest 35 years of your working years.

Social Security checks are automatically adjusted for inflation. In 2009 payments were increased by 5.8%. Conversely the Congressional Budget Office estimates that there may not be an increase for inflation in the next several years due to lack of inflation.

(3) At what age should I begin collecting Social Security? Even though it pays to wait, most people take benefits before full retirement age. If you have an average or better life expectancy you might be well advised to wait a bit longer to collect. You will not collect quite as long but you will collect more at a time when you are unable to work to supplement your income.

You can increase the size of your SS checks by waiting until you are “full retirement age” or even later to collect. For instance, age 66 would yield full retirement benefits for most people, and waiting until age 67-68 will raise benefits to 110%, and waiting till age 69-70 can result in 120%-130% of full retirement benefits respectively. But your betting against your longevity if you wait longer.

(4) If I work, will I lose benefits? If you retire early and work your benefits are likely to be reduced but if you want to work after you have reached full retirement age, then there is not effect on your Social Security benefits according to the source quoted at the beginning of this article. In fact they say that if you work after full retirement Social Security will begin compensating you with a larger check for the benefits withheld and you’ll receive higher payments for the rest of your life.

(5)Will my SS benefits be taxed? Although that is a question best reserved for your tax person, about one third of retirees currently pay tax on a portion of their benefits, as working during your Golden Years will raise your taxable income for those years.

According to “What You Need to Know about Social Security” by Walter Updegrave, “one of the best ways to lessen the tax bite is to wait at least until “full retirement” before receiving benefits.”

“Another way is to take money out of a Roth IRA instead of your 401k because Roth withdrawals don’t count as income when figuring if your benefits are taxable. So if you don’t already have money in a Roth, you may want to fund one or convert some of your traditional IRA to a Roth.”

Most of us would be well advised to not put all our eggs in one basket. If you can combine a pension with Social Security and even start a small business for your retirement years such as an online business, your retirement would more likely become “Golden Years”.

Are you thinking of buying and storing physical gold bullion in a secure offshore location? Are you looking for a secure storage solution for confidential documents? In either case, and many others, a secure offshore safe deposit facility is a useful asset to any freedom-oriented individual.

The good news is that most Austrian offshore banks or Swiss banks will be happy to rent you a safe deposit box, regardless of your passport. The bad news is that you need your passport! The famed Austrian and Swiss anonymous numbered bank accounts now only exist in the movies. Swiss banks usually want you to have an account from which they will deduct the annual box rental fee. Costs start at around 65 euro ($90) per year for a small box.

Just about every bank in Austria or Switzerland also sells gold bullion coins. Purchases up to around CHF 25,000 do not require ID in Swiss banks. Consider buying gold coins like the Austrian ‘Philharmonic’ a one ounce Austrian gold coin, similar to the American Eagle, Krugerrand or Maple Leaf.

Austrian and Swiss law prohibits banks from opening your safe deposit box unless they are sure you are dead! Austria is one of the only countries in the world with this protection. I have been in Safety Deposit vaults in France and the USA where it seems half the boxes have stick-on government seals on them due to tax investigations, lawsuits, or creditor claims. Those seals mean that the owner can’t get into his box, and it is scheduled to be drilled open for inspection if the owner doesn’t show up for an appointment with “the authorities.” When choosing a location for your safety deposit box, be sure you consider these details as it could make a huge impact on your entire asset protection strategy.

So Austrian and Swiss banks are great places to hold safe deposit boxes, but what if Latin America is your stomping ground? How can you buy and sell gold bullion bars and coins in major Latin American capitals like Panama City?
